Recurring income from your charger: how fleet subscriptions work

Transactions are good. Fixed monthly income is better. We explain how charge point operators build a stable revenue stream from their fleet customers through subscriptions.

As a charge point operator, you know the problem: one month barely anyone charges, the next your charger is occupied constantly. Your income fluctuates, while your fixed costs — your backoffice subscription, the grid connection, depreciation — simply keep running.

Fleet subscriptions offer a way out. Instead of only earning per charging session, you offer your regular business customers a monthly subscription. They pay a fixed amount per month and in return get a discount on every charge at your charge points. You get guaranteed, recurring income — even in quiet periods.

What exactly is a fleet subscription?

The concept is simple. In Proxilink you create a subscription plan, for example:

  • Basic subscription — €29/month, 10% discount on your public rate
  • Plus subscription — €59/month, 20% discount + priority when chargers are busy
  • Pro subscription — €99/month, 30% discount for fleet managers

A fleet manager of a nearby company signs up for the Plus subscription. From now on their drivers charge at a 20% discount at your chargers. Every month you automatically receive €59 — even if little charging happens that month.

Why this is attractive for operators

The big advantage is predictability. With five fleet customers on a Plus subscription you already have €295 in fixed monthly income before a single cable is plugged into a vehicle. That covers a large part of your fixed operational costs.

What's more, you build a loyal group of regular customers this way. Companies that take a subscription charge structurally with you — not with the competitor further down the street. That translates into higher occupancy and into kWh income on top of the subscription fee.

How does it work in Proxilink?

In the Proxilink platform you create a subscription plan with a name, monthly price and discount percentage. Fleet customers can sign up online, after which they automatically receive an RFID tag or charge card linked to their discount profile.

Every charging session by a subscriber is automatically invoiced at the reduced rate. The monthly subscription fee is charged separately. You don't have to do anything manually — Proxilink processes everything automatically and creates the invoices.

Who is this most interesting for?

Fleet subscriptions work best for operators with charge points near:

  • Business parks and SME zones
  • Office buildings without their own charging infrastructure
  • Shopping centres or supermarkets where suppliers stop by daily
  • Logistics hubs with fleets of vans

In those contexts there are always companies that need to charge regularly but have no infrastructure of their own. They are happy with a discount and a guaranteed charging spot — and you are happy with fixed income.

Fleet subscriptions are available from the Essential plan (€199/charger/month) in Proxilink. Ready to start? Register today and set up your first subscription plan — active immediately, cancel monthly.
